Hi, I'm Simon Wright. Welcome to my Helium page. I am the Helium Channel Manager for the Spending & Saving part of Helium's Personal Finance section. Please contact me if you have any queries or suggestions about that part of the site. As well as writing about finance, I also write extensively on a range of other topics including soccer and the art of writing.
Some information about me:
I'm originally from Enniskillen, in Northern Ireland. A small claim to fame is that I went to the same school as a famous writer by the name of Oscar Wilde (though in different centuries!).
I now live in Scotland and work in financial services. I have extensive experience in banking, having worked both in marketing and project management across the Internet banking and mobile banking distribution channels.
Away from work, my main passion is writing. I have staged comedy sketch shows and have had comedy sketches performed in venues in Scotland. Having discovered Helium, I have built up a sizeable portfolio of knowledge articles and have had articles purchased by external publishers. My particular areas of expertise include finance, technology, sports, and writing-related articles.
My Helium Betaville Zone:
I've set up a Helium zone, called Simon Wright's Writing Resource Zone, which you can find at this url, http://www.helium.com/zone/1362-simon-wright-writing-resource-zone . It's got my thoughts on writing, plus tips on how we can all improve as writers. I hope that you will check it out and enjoy it. Feedback welcome too!
Additional information:
Check out my personal website, at http://paperbackwrighter.weebly.com, for more examples of my writing. This includes some of my creative writing, which you won't find anywhere else.
- Comedy writer:
As a comedy writer, I have had sketches performed in theatres and comedy venues in Edinburgh and Glasgow, in Scotland. Audio recordings are available, should any radio, TV, or theatre publishers be interested in commissioning them. Sketches include themes of science fiction and religious parody.
- Short story / novel writer:
I have a collection of short stories, which are mainly in the crime genre. Additionally, I have a completed (but unpublished) novel.
