About me

I am a 44 year old single mother. My daughter is about to turn 8 this April. She is my pride and joy. Of course, all parents say that but mine is true! I believe that she is truly a gift from God, I had tried for over 10 years and finally at age 36, there she was! I am divorced after 19 years of marriage, I just could not deal with the alcohol abuse. I felt that I could offer my daughter a better life alone. However, I am happily engaged to a wonderful man, so life really does go on.
The one major thing, I love being in my forties! The knowledge that I have gained over the years and the freedom I now feel from everyday things like makeup, hair styles, fancy clothes, need for money and power, fancy cars, big house, and material things. Life is so much more precious now. I try to live life as easily as possible. I do not buy into naysayers about things like the environment, second hand smoke theories, trans fat, and so forth. I am a firm believer that the chemicals that are in our foods are much more harmful and that stress will kill you much faster. I prefer the simpler things in life now.
I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis the exact week that I turned 40 years old. The odd thing about that is that I grew up thinking that arthritis was nothing more than an excuse. Wow, did I get a very rude awakening! RA is very different, not really sure why it is called arthritis, because it is an auto immune disease that affects much more than just a person's joints. It affects their eyes, heart, and lungs. I have donated my body to science and I am in an experimental treatment for RA in hopes to help myself as well as future generations of sufferers. This is a horrible debilitating disease. It's very invasive in a person's life. The joint damage is only part of the whole picture, there is also extreme fatigue, depression, loss of appetite, weight loss (a plus for me), mood swings, major physical and mental changes as well. All of a sudden even little bumps and scrapes mean a lot! If you cut yourself while preparing dinner, it can cause a flare, if you bang your knee while making the bed, it can cause a flare, if your child comes home with the sniffles from the common cold, it can turn into pneumonia. It is unbelievable what happens to your entire body and mind with a disease like this. I am coping as best I can and I have beat the odds so far. I was told that by the time I am 45, I will probably be in a wheel chair. HaHa! I will be 45 in July of this year, and guess what....not even close to being in a wheel chair. I fight this disease every single day. There are many days where I am too tired to care and to beat up. The fight continues on anyways. I absolutely refuse to give up!

I am a conservative, Republican (but not extreme right!) and I feel that our government is becoming way too intrusive in our personal lives. I am a newly confirmed Catholic and I take my personal beliefs seriously. I am also a part time artist, and I dabble in water colors. I paint primarily for peace of mind and for my family and friends. They love my art and so do I. I have several of my own paintings hanging on my walls. I dearly love the water and I love to swim. That is my favorite summer past time. I love bon-fires and I enjoy medieval reenactment. In fact, this summer, we are getting married at Pennsic in a medieval style wedding. It should be absolutely enchanting!

Overall, I am writing to let people in on my own thoughts about the world, society, and things of today. I am horribly worried about our current youth. They seem to be lacking the simple things that I was taught while growing up. Kids these days are growing up way too fast and I think that parents have pushed too much of the responsibilities of raising children on the government and schools. I think that law suits are out of control and I really think this country needs a good shake up of old fashioned values. There are way too many people with tattoos, piercing, and bad hair. No one is unique anymore and it appears as though everyone is trying to fit into a particular mold these days. That is all for now. More another time or look for my writings.

Politics, News & Issues > Party Politics & Ideology What it means to be a republican

What it means to me to be a Republican is horribly different from what most of these writers are saying. They are completely wrong. I have been reading these articles on what it means to be Republican. WHAT!? Obviously those who chose to write on this topic are not Republicans. They are obviously liberal democrats trying to smear the ideology of the Republican Party. What a complete joke! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Here, in my own view, is what it means to really be a Republican. First and foremost, Republicans believe that th...
