I was born in Beth-El Hospital, Brooklyn, New York in December of 1938. I am the youngest of three children born to Christine and Henry Smith, whose residence at the time was on Glenwood Road, in the town of Canarsie, in the borough of Brooklyn.
My siblings, Harry and Dorothy, were, respectively, 14 and 7 years of age at my birth. Consequently, or so I learned during my developmental psych class in college, I was an only child. And that was ok; I lived in a world that I created which included characters I invented and, figuratively, flights of fancy using the model airplanes I had built.
