Spilt Milk It was 1967 and we lived on a small farm in Ringgold, La. Daddy was a cook in the Air Force and was stationed in Vietnam. Mama was left at home raising five boys by herself. I was fifteen and the oldest of the boys. Mama and I both worked at a little Dairy Dream in town and we both kind of swapped off watching the boys. In those days in the military, a cook made rank very slowly, which meant there was little money. As far back as I can remember, dad always had a part time job just to make ends meet.
