I like to think of myself as a person who lives every moment to the fullest. My life is a tabloid of experiences, some unique, some mundane and everything between those two points. I was born and raised in Southern California, the eldest of five from wonderful parents. My father was a cabinet maker and mom was, what was then called, a housewife. In high school I was a "jock" and a "surfer". I remember where I was (in woodshop) when they announced that President Kennedy had been shot. I went for my physical for the draft just 16 months after I graduated from high school, and got my official draft notice 60 days later, on Christmas Eve, 1965. I spent a year in Viet Nam as a machine gunner with the 1st Air Cavalry. After the service I went back to school, partied my ass off until they asked me to leave, went to work as an armored car driver and then an LAPD officer. Within that same time frame, I also tried out for the Los Angeles Rams as a free agent. No, I didn't make the team! I decided that spending my life in uniform was NOT what I really wanted, so I quit and returned to school. I actually got serious about my education and studied. I became a nationally ranked debater and won a scholarship to a small, prestigious school and got my degree. I was recruited by AT&T and spent a mini career there during the most tumultuous period in business history, the reorganization of AT&T and the divestiture of the worlds largest corporation. I moved on to a number of private telecommunications firms, and there, albeit in the midwest USA, I remain.
I started writing in 2002 and was published the same year. One year later, my first solo book (the first was an anthology with 10 other poets), "Reflections of Soaring", a book of poetry based on my life experiences, was published.
I spend my leisure time aboard my Harley living the same biker lifestyle that I have since my youth. I share my life with Trish, the most wonderful wife, companion and best friend that a person could ever hope to be blessed with.

Is there life after 40, 50, 60 and beyond? Absolutely, as long as you want there to be. I believe your life is meant to be reinvented over and over again. I came to this belief as I watched my father work his entire adult life, retire at 65 and then, for seemingly no reason, quit living. He slipped very quickly into a day to day existence of waking up, having breakfast, sitting outside for a few hours, and then, retiring to the sofa in front of the television set until supper, back to that same place for the last few hours of the evening, and then to bed. This was repeated day after day af...
