A native of the southern state of Georgia, David Thackston arrived on the literary scene in early 2008 with the release of his critically acclaimed crime drama, "70's Glam Rock". As a trademark of his style, Thackston uses dramatic imagery that paints a vivid picture with his words, an ability that many critics consider his strong point as a writer.
Demonstrating an unwavering drive and a boundless determination to create, with the debut of "Fans, Freaks, and Foes", Thackston released three books in 2008, including a collection of short stories and poetry entitled "Loose Ends". Each of his books demonstrate the depth and flexibility of this developing writer as nearly every release defies genre distinction. The collection "Loose Ends" also provides an insight into Thackston's writing style and creative process with the inclusion of notes regarding the unique approach taken towards each work.
In 2009 Thackston released the first book of the much anticipated "Leaving America" series, a dramatic trilogy that represents a departure from the gothic fiction of Thackston's early career. One of his most popular releases is "Leaving America: A Modern Horror Story", which was received with great acclaim despite its risky subject matter and its existentialist basis. The release of the new series proved that Thackston has the depth to reach across genre distinctions in order to gain an entirely new audience.
In 2009 "Leaving America 2: El Satanael was released", as well as another collection of short stories and poetry entitled "Oral Copulation and the Cyber World". The third and final book in the Leaving series was released in 2011 and to date, is his most recent release. 2012 will see the release of at least two new works by David Thackston however, including a possible third collection of short stories and poetry, or two new novels.
With a heavy publication schedule, as well as a prolific collection of freelance writing projects in addition to his novels, David Thackston stays very busy indeed and is quickly gaining recognition as one of the most talented and driven writers of his generation.
