: About Me

I believe that I am a man of many interests. For many years, professionally, I have been involved with computers. For even more years than my profession, I have been active in outdoor activities, including backpacking, canoeing, caving, and rock climbing. A large portion of my outdoor activities has been Scouting related, but I also lead non-Scout groups.

I am married with two sons (see the picture of my sons and me leaning against a canoe in the backcountry of Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario - youngest to oldest, left to right). My sons share my love for the outdoors and often accompany me on trips.

Some friends and I have published a devotional. The book is titled "Devotions for Outdoor Adventures". In the book, we give examples from our experiences in the wilderness and then apply the experience to a Biblical principle. We feel that the outdoors offers a view of God that you may not find other places and we pray that this book will help people direct their thoughts to God when they go outdoors. Picture a lake on a summer's evening, a half hour before sunset. The afternoon breezes have died and the lake is glassy smooth. The lake reflects the clouds and the early rising of the moon. As you look over the lake you see a lone canoe paddler gliding towards the far end of the lake. The canoe seems to be moving effortlessly, straight toward a destination. When you look past the canoe you see that the paddler's attention is riveted on a moose grazing in the shallows. The moose does not notice the quiet approach of the canoe.
