About me - A. Simpson

aboutme

A 30 year-old lawyer in Memphis, I remember telling my first grade teacher, Ms. Owen, that I wanted to be a writer someday. Two kids and a legal career have taken much of my writing time away, but I figure that it's never too late to begin fulfilling that first grade dream. As a 30th birthday resolution, I promised myself more time to write and to actually find a place to share what I've written. And so I discovered Helium and wrote my first article in lieu of a few lunch breaks. My other passion of late is my ever-expanding garden, where I've been trying to raise lots of unique plants from seed. The garden, like writing, provides a great escape from the day to day stresses of being a lawyer and a dad.

As a result of the increased costs of doing business in a regulated environment, many U.S. companie...
