About me - De Ette Stewart

About me

Born and raised in Michigan, only to be hijacked by husband and transported to East Coast. Gained my freedom after over 20 years and eventually made my way home to Michigan's Upper Peninsula where I reside in single contentment.

Currently working in Oncology Data Management as a Consultant. This job is 100% travel. Sometimes I love it, sometimes its wearing both physically and emotionally.

Love cats, horses, handspinning, weaving, crochet, reading, kayaking, fishing, camping, travel, gardening, cooking, and my 3 kids, not necessarily in that order!

I am currently rehabbing my cozy little cottage. It needs a garden! (Oh darn!)

I drive a Chevy HHR, purple and loaded. Love this car!

Briefly me

My passion is ...

Handspinning and working with fiber, kayaking, growing roses, living Up North in Michigan.

I know too much about ...

Wool, horses, domestic travel, and cancer.

My parents always told me ...

"You're a girl, you don't need a career", talk about bad advice...

My childhood ambition ...

To travel and see the world, footnote to boss: That did not include Bayonne, New Jersey!

My favorite memory ...

The first time I held each of my 3 children after their births, and, okay, in all honesty a close second was driving home from the closing on my little house. I was over the moon!

Why I write ...

Total compulsion, I have no control, and this is MUCH more suitable than those e-mails at work.....

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

CJ Cherryh's Foreigner series! Love it! HGTV and Survivor, two sick addictions for which there is no gum.

My first job ...

Camp Counselor and riding teacher at a YWCA camp. I was fifteen.

My best moment ...

Graduating from college at the age of 37, Cum Laude, Phi Theta Kappa and on the National Dean's List, while all 3 of my kids cheered me on. A Major win in the war on life.

My inspiration ...

My gardens, my looms, a sunny afternoon in my kayak.

One of my all-time favorite cats was my Black Persian, Merlin. He had quite a few little quirks. I'm not sure I would go as far as to call them "Behavior Problems", but they were odd. None of my other cats ever showed the same behaviors. The weirdest was his screen fixation. He loved screens, the kind on the outsides of windows to keep the bugs out? He would leap up and grab onto the screen with his claws, then hang there until some poor, unsuspecting person looked outside and saw these big, round, yellow eyes glaring in at them! He nearly knocked two years off me the first time he did it!...
