About me

What does one write that summarizes a life? Well, I guess that is the task at hand. I am a mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, daughter and sister. I have been told that I work harder than most, am dilliegent, concerned, intelligent, interested and tireless. I know I have drawn a few lines in the sand and would not sacrifice dignity for those who would strip me of it.

I like the arts, though not at the expense of reality. I am not a hollywood fanatic and find the hateful delving of the media into the personal lives of the rich and famous, sickening. I look at each, even the well off, as doing the best they can at that point in time, however misguided it seems.

I believe in helping people help themselves and have worked toward that end for most of my career. There is a difference between helping and teaching learned helplessness. I firmly believe that people have a right to succeed or fail based on their own effort investment. Even failure creates an environment of new learning and creation. I have learned this in my own life.

I like to read, research and learn. I am interested in everything from the instruction manual for my microwave to the middle eastern conflicts going on at the present time. I like to know all points of view. That is the essence of informed decission making. I detest willful ignorance..that being opinion based on propaganda.

I love nature and feel that it is our greatest resource. I think that the National Parks were one of the best ideas America ever had. I like needle work and crochet and sew constantly. My favorite thing to do is to write and I do it often. It is my release.

That's it I guess...

Briefly me

My passion is ...

The other side of the story.

I know too much about ...

A system of dependence being build in this country.

My parents always told me ...

To follow my heart and forgive.

My childhood ambition ...

To make a difference.

My favorite memory ...

The births of my children. All were equally amazing!

Why I write ...

It is both a creative outlet and gives me voice to ideas which I am otherwise unable to express.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

I am listening to the news thinking that this world is in turmoil. It is sad!

My first job ...

Strawberry Picker

My best moment ...

When I stood up to those who attempted to minimize my labor!

My inspiration ...

My children and family.

Creative Writing > Poetry Poetry: Carving pumpkins

Which will you choose? Those little hands wander, Aimlessly Picking up the stencils And putting them away. You hid the carving knife Under the newspaper. You sigh, shrug and walk away. You stop in front of the barn, Reach into the pile and pick up one little pumpkin, Turn it, Inspect it. You walk back slowly, Sheepishly And Announce, "This one has a smile already. Do we have to kill it?" We used the carving knife To dig a small hole for the flashlight, That provided the glow For that little smile.
