About me - Josh Hostetler

About me

I am somewhat complicated, but I will try my best to sum it all up here, in no particular order:

I was born in 1975. I have a degree in film-making. I am pursuing a master's degree in pure math, and I teach college (freshman-level) algebra at a public state university. I am divorced. I am an atheist. I am mostly gay. I believe that countries are artificial and unnecessary. I believe that all people are equal until they prove otherwise. I am a musician. I have a very large collection of four, five, and six-leafed clovers, (though it was much larger before my ex-wife got rid of the collection I had when our marriage ended). I believe that every single system of government has something going for it, and that if we were to find a compromise system that included the best parts from each, that we could accomplish great things. My bones are too dense. I have a chronic pain disorder. My family is the most important thing in my life. I think the field of statistics is largely immoral and misused. I suffer from migraines. I have almost been dead 3 times in my life that I know of. I watched a man die once. I have extra bones in my feet. I get annoyed at people during most holidays. I have no health insurance. I pride myself on my appreciation and knowledge of music and film. I have worked in the fields of archeology, television production, and graphic design, along with other very mundane things. I understand the theory of relativity. I have a very difficult time memorizing things unless I can clearly see their connections to other things I already know. I believe that dogma kills the necessary critical thought that one needs to figure out their natural belief system, and, thus, logic is my god. I have had several major surgeries. When I was in fourth grade, my body tried to self-destruct. I love cats. I discovered algebra for myself when I was 11, and was promptly reprimanded for it. I am a pedestrian. I have previously been addicted to no less than 5 substances; I am addicted to none now (I am not counting caffeine or nicotine...). I got into three really great, well-respected colleges, but passed on them because I was uneducated about the availability of funding for poor students. I eat a lot of cheese and pork. I write a blog on Myspace (link is to the right). I drink excessive amounts of coffee. My socks don't match.

That's all I can think of right now. Think of it as a teaser. If more things come to mind, I will add them. If you'd like to know more, contact me through Myspace (link to the right).

Thanks, and have a nice day.

Every person who becomes a pharmacist has to adhere to a code of ethics, which has been written and adopted by pharmacists. The third part of that code, apparently, is as follows: "A pharmacist respects the autonomy and dignity of each patient." (SOURCE: http://www.uspharmd.com/pharmacist/Pharmacist_Oath _and_Code_of_Ethics.html) What this means, in a nutshell, is that a pharmacist has promised, solemnly, to respect the beliefs and choices of each patient, respecting the patient's personal belief system and the course given to them by their doctor. What it also means is this: If a person wh...
