Hello everyone! I am glad you decided to stop by and check out my work.
I am a recent college graduate with a degree in Paraeducation. What is a Paraeducator? Most states do not offer this degree so I am part of a new generation of educators. Unlike the current certificate program some people can receive for Paraeducation, I have been trained in physical and mental child development and instructed in closer observation methods, evaluation methods, and intervention methods.
In a typical day at work I interact one-on-one or in small groups with children. This individual time allows the students to have more contact with an instructor and receive general assistance with school work, relationship issues, and other difficulties. I am also able to teach a class, much like a substitute teacher, in some states like Texas.
I also spend much of my free time developing educational materials and am working on a plan for an after school reading/theater program.
Besides that, I love to read and write. If my English teachers could see me now they would never believe it. I hardly ever passed a spelling test in Elementary school and failed my English class in Middle School.
I also run a very new wedding advice website called Renewed Dreams and its associated blog Sarah Knows.
Well that is enough from me. Feel free to read my articles and enjoy the rest of Helium!
P.S. Despite how I look in the picture, I am nearly 30 years old. People often make the sudgestion that I use a photo that is "older looking". You may think looking older than your age is a bad thing, but looking younger is not much better. It has actually cause some trouble when it comes to finding a job.
The picture was taken this last summer during the Student Educations Association's Multicultural Celebration. I am happy to say I was the President of the club and we won Club of the Year for the first time! Go Chuckers!

The best parents and teachers know that play is not just for fun. Play is the number one teaching tool for every student, in and out of the classroom. If you want to stimulate the student's cognitive abilities make ordinary lessons extraordinary through play. Parents at home can easily turn homework time into play time with these simple ideas:
Spelling
Cheer Spelling A lot of children are not natural spellers. On top of this, sitting though a spelling list and saying the letters over and over is hard on an active student. The best way to spice up a spelling list for the wiggly s...
