About me

Both my husband and I have been practicing organic gardening methods on our property of 3/4 of a acre off and on for over 20 years. Since I have retired, I am thrilled to have the time to once again begin to have a larger vegetable garden as well as beginning to rethink and redesign the configuration of the landscape. We've decide to begin to convert more areas of our "lawn" to flower beds and eventually to include a water feature.

My strongest area of expertise lies in vegetable gardening and growing roses organically. I am studying hard to learn as much as I can about perennial flowers, so I can begin to plant some beds with all these lovely flowers.

I completed classes on Master Gardening in the fall of 2007. I was recently elected the new President of the local Master Gardener Association.  I'm really enjoying several of our current projects.  My particular favorite are the MG plant clinics, we give at the local farmer's market and library in season.  It's fascinating and the choices are many and varied. I've found I'm learning as much as I'm teaching.  I love working with other gardeners and mentoring beginners.

I have been writing articles for the Dave's Garden website and decided I would like to try some other subjects. Helium certainly gives one a variety of subjects to chose from. Gardening is not the only thing I know and would like to share.

Best vegetables for beginner gardeners to grow Welcome to the wonderful world of gardening, some call it a hobby, but be warned; it could become a serious addiction very quickly.  You’ll find “digging in the dirt” to be a great relief from stress, it gives you a tremendous sense of inner peace and helps you “recharge” your batteries, not to mention, nothing, but nothing tastes as good as homegrown!  You can always grow a few plants even with a very busy schedule.     The entire process can be rather intimidating to a beginner, but here...
