Joy is a former small town girl in between stages of her life. She is changing gears from working a 9-5 customer service job and volunteering on the side to working full time in the human services field for a non profit out on the East Coast. She's been from a small town her whole life, and now she's in a small town on the edge of the big city. It's a little bit daunting and very exciting all at once.
My passion is ...
being alive and in the world. Contributing something new to it.
I know too much about ...
postage meters and customer service.
My parents always told me ...
keep my priorities strait.
My childhood ambition ...
to be a writer and an artist.
My favorite memory ...
is probably outdoors, with friends, in summer and I am almost certainly laughing.
Why I write ...
because otherwise the words just slip away.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
Lorrie Moore, The Mighty Boosh, The Magnetic Fields
My first job ...
was picking strawberries.
My best moment ...
is yet to come.
My inspiration ...
comes from everything I see every day.

My heart wants someone to come home to; my body, a home. A place that isn't simply a designated space set aside in the margins of other lives. There is belongingness in touch; my lips tickled by the short hairs...
