About me - Julie Doolittle

About me

I live in New Mexico and work a full-time job. I spend most of my time divided between work and church. I attend church 6 times a week and relish the family I have there. I spend a moderate amount of time on-line but most time is spent waiting for my Muse to return from whatever vacation she happens to be on. I am, of course, referring the the mythological Muse of the Greeks and not some person in the real sense of life.

I entered a writing contest and won first place for nonfiction with my entry 'Water, Water Nowhere And All The Wasted Drinks' which was to be an essay on the best glass of water you had ever tasted. I was quite pleased to win first place since it reaffirmed my writing ability through mounting disbelief.

I have two vampire novels published through Publish America under the pen name Julie Anne Smythe. It was originally meant to be a trilogy but will not be after all. They can be purchased at PublishAmerica.com or by searching on Amazon.com or Borders, if you're interested. I, however, do not recommend them to the very learned or easily bored.

The fantasy novel Past Vengeance has been in the works for five years and is currently undergoing a thorough rewrite. I have just finished rewriting the Preface (the date, if you're wondering, is 12/11/2007) and am hoping to have it published by late next year.

Other than that, I enjoy writing because it opens up doors that have been tightly closed, even hidden, for centuries. Writing gives me a chance to breathe in the excitement that my 8-5 secretarial life denies me and to create characters and beings of great strengths and weaknesses. I lean toward the fantasy genre when I write fiction though I am dabbling in science fiction and would like to try my hand at westerns. Religion & Spirituality > Christian Holidays & Celebrations The implications of God's love for us

I floundered when love was ever introduced to me, in any form. The relational love of parents to children I never realized or understood. I felt unloved and abandoned most of my life, though I was truly neither. I couldn't understand the concept of love. For me, love turned into boyfriends and sex, neither of which I experienced, and eventually fear of intimacy descended like a heavy cloud upon my life. I clung to the virginity within me as my only saving grace, the only thing worthwile in my small life, the only thing of value within me. A gift to be kept forever, even from the loving han...
