About me

Hey Darlin'!

I was born in Texas and then moved to LA (lower Alabama) before settling in eastern Tennessee. I think my parent's wanted to make sure that if nothing else, I would be a well rounded Southerner. (smile)

I thought I'd warn you about my "affliction" so when you read my writing and see that unmistakable Southern flare coming through, you 'll know why.

I can write material as technical as you care to read, however I prefer to write in "Alabama English" as I call it, which is for the everyday person.

Things I write for fun are sewn together with humor, sprayed in blunt honesty and then dipped in sarcasm before being served on a plate of "did she really say that" for your amusement and hopefully your enjoyment as well.

The last 10 years of my life have been spent teaching independent life skills to adults who are mentally, physically and developmentally delayed (MRDD). This in combination of being a single Mom and traveling all over North America coaching volleyball at the Jr. Olympic level has kept me fairly busy.

After the death of my favorite patient a couple of years ago, I shocked my family and moved north of the Mason Dixon line into "Yankee territory". I now work for a Brand Design Strategy firm, which I absolutely love. Believe it or not it isn't all that different from working with the mentally and physically challenged, they just dress better. (don't feel guilty to smile here)

I hope you enjoy the articles I've written. I welcome any comments or feedback that you're willing to share and I hope you allow my Sassy, Southern, Sarcastic Sense of humor tickle your funny bone.

Creative Writing > Reflections Reflections: Funny children quotes

I have two funny quotes from sons. The first quote is from my son Austin and the second one is from my boss's son Jacob. Austin: A never-ending source of humor for my family and friends is the fact that I've always liked older men. I married my children's father who is 15 years my senior and continued to date older men after we divorced. One day I was in the car with my son and daughter who were 13 and 14 at the time. We were driving along like a lot of families with young teens. My daughter busy texting her friends on her cell phone, my son was in 'music land' listening to his CD player a...
