I have been writing short stories and poetry .I have been published as a writer for "The Daily Word", which is a Unity Church publication. My poetry is available online at Poetry.com .
I feel as every aspiring writer must feel, that there is some great work within me. Some important piece of literature which I must contribute to the world which is meant to enrich and broaden the minds of the people who read it. Something noble and pure, something honorable and decent written with such power and art that it uplifts the very nature of humanity and inspires us to reach higher than we ever have before.
I always have been and still am and will forever be a dreamer. I envision a better world always growing out of the old one. I believe that humans learn from each other and from the universe around us. That this knowledge is cummulative and that we can teach it to the children of the world in such a way that they will understand how much we need to live intelligently on this planet. How we need to take care of each other , as well as our planet, in order to live together in the highest state of harmony and happiness we can achieve as a global community.
Yes I am an optimist. Yes I know that there are wars and famines and natural disasters. Just because I am a dreamer does not mean I am oblivious to the present condition and unaware of the dangerous situations which now exist throughout the world. I am a problem solver. I see the problems, but I know there are things that we can do to slowly correct the causes of the problems if we take action and move towards positive solutions. No it is not an easy thing to do,but I believe we have the men and women alive on this planet right now with the intelligence and creativity necessary to put together plans designed to turn the bad scenarios into positive and rewarding results for all of us. It takes time and it takes dedication and teamwork to build something truly great and wonderful. But I see the spark in my fellow beings. I know we all want a better world for ourselves and our children. And despite all of the hype and negative predictions I believe the human spieces as as whole is working every day to attain a higher level of consciousness which will lift us all to new levels of existence. I believe that it is okay with God for us to grow more peaceful and learn how to care for our planet and for each other in a more intelligent and compassionate manner.
I make my living as a carpenter. I love to go sailing. I was a sailor in the U.S.Navy, but it was nothing like actually hauling up the sails on a thirty foot sloop and feeling it catch the wind and begin to move swiftly across the water with the free power nature provides.I paint with acrylic paints. I read all kinds of books, magazines and newspapers.I play guitar and sing old rock and roll songs by various artists. No,I did not quit my day job.I scuba dive when I get the chance.I used to hang glide, but not anymore, not after my crash.I used to go snow skiing, but haven't done that for a long time.I don't think sky diving has ever been, or ever will be on my "bucket list".I still want to travel, even though the Navy helped me see a big chunk of the planet,I'm still eager to see a lot of places I haven't been.I want to experience as much of this Earth as I can, while I still can.I'm fiftyfive and still strong and healthy, with clear eyes and ears to see and hear what it is I am supposed to learn from this life.Oh,and while we're discussing sensory input,I love to cook. This is primarily due to the fact that I love to taste good food.I love to smell it cooking, but most of all I love to eat good food. That just leaves touch, and I can only say that I have also done sculpture to express textures, shapes, and forms. The sensual nature of the universe is everywhere and my attraction to women has led to moments of my highest bliss, as well as my deepest despair and agony.
So,there is some of me.Not all of me, but a small sample of me for this "about me " section of Helium. Now if I can just write that novel...
God is within us, sharing our consciousness. As lifeforms born into consciousness with five senses to interpret the world we live in, God lives in each of us and experiences the universe through us. God also exists simultaneously elsewhere, everywhere. There is an intelligence at work in the universe. Trying to describe an infinite being capable of creating everything which we can experience is an effort in futility. Yet we continue to pursue the carrot on the stick, and we try to answer the unanswerable. This unending search by human beings to find their God is primitive. God is within us...
