About me

I can't easily talk about myself without saying how my mother influenced it. She has been the most patient and best mother that a woman could possibly be. She has given birth to 6 children (all boys) and she still tries to keep us all together. She kind of spoils me when it comes to material items but my little brothers get all the love. I can't drive so I am constantly stuck at home. I'm not very popular so I'm never invited anywhere. I guess people are truly right when they say that I have no life, because I don't really get a chance to lead one. It's getting better with my hopes that I will one day be a high school math teacher. It kind of keeps me motivated. In the meantime I have absolutely nothing else to do except for figure out different sized Rubik's cubes, read, and of course, write. I've written stories for random girls and I've told stories to my little brothers that I later wrote down. (I have my oldest brother who is now in the Marines to thank for that.) I have even tried my hand at poetry but I don't think it came out very well. (My mother was my only critic so she had to be nice about it.) I now mainly write out of boredom. I hope that one day I write something that I can truly take seriously, but that day just hasn't come yet. Well, here's hoping.

I was born in Ft. Huachuca, Arizona and I haven't lived in a single one place for more than two years. The reason for this is that my father was in the military and he was constantly being stationed in new places. The most interesting of which was Landstuhl, Germany. It had plenty of forests and parks and the such, but we always moved too fast to really get any good friends. What made it worse was that my brothers were the ones that were popular so I always tried to stay with them. It didn't always work out though because I wasn't a teenager yet which stopped me from staying up late, going to the teen center, and understanding what my brothers were talking about. I tried my best to fit in anyway. As time went on, we moved more and more and slowly my grades started slipping in school because I just didn't feel as motivated anymore. When my littlest brother was born (Migdiel Zavid Ortiz) we moved back to the United States because my little brother needed certain medical attention that he just couldn't receive anywhere in Germany. He is considered a medical mystery and I admire him over anybody else because if anyone can tell you about suffering, it would be him. He gets a hormone shot every month, and an infusion every three months. All of that on top of his multiple medications that he has to take every single day. Despite all of his hardships, he still manages to keep a smile on his face and to put smiles on other people's faces. We lived on Ft. Campbell for a little while before my dad finally retired from the military (which would mean we finally didn't have to worry about moving anymore) and my parents chose a nice quiet rural area for our final place of residence.

I now attend a high school that sits on a pond and I graduate this May and I couldn't be happier. I attend church and I consider Jesus my Lord and Saviour. I maintain a 3.38 GPA. I got a 27 on the ACT and I am already admitted to Austin Peay to start the 2008-2009 school year. I can't wait even though for the first time in my life I will be away from my family. I don't know how I'm going to do it but it is working together nicely so far.

That's really all that I can say about myself, even though most of it was about other people in my family (they define what made me, me).

One Big Playground When I was ten years old, my family and I lived on a military base called Landstuhl. It was rather small considering the fact that it did have the best hospital in Germany. The business portion of the miniature city did not matter to me. The only things that I was interested in were the forests and the playground The striking of the sun through the beautifully full, green canopy of the forest cast a fantastical luminescent glitter throughout the wood. My brothers and I were always frolicking through the forest. We would play games, such as man-hunt, capture the flag, and...
