Rudolph Hess was completely devoted to the career of Adolph Hitler. Hess first met Hitler in 1920 after hearing him speak at one of his political rallies. Hess served seven and one-half months in the Landsberg prison for his role as commander of an SA battalion during the Beer Hall Putsch (coup) on November 8-9, 1923 where Hitler, General Erich Ludendorff and other political leaders tried to gain power in Munich, Bavaria and Germany.
