A standard cry when a movie comes out based on a book beloved of many is that "it isn't as good as the book". And, while I have been guilty of this myself from time to time, there is a very important thing that needs to be remembered: a movie isn't a book. This may seem obvious, but apparently it isn't. People forget that when a story is transferred from page to screen it changes into a brand new thing. Film is a totally different medium to print, and so it is not even slightly surprising that they are going to be different. Therefore, saying the book is better than the movie is a category...
