I began a professional career in journalism after receiving a BA in Communications in 1976. I was a newspaper reporter for 12 years traveling back and forth between both coasts. In 1992, I retired from the media maze to freelance write and continue my education. In 1997, I received my Masters of Science in Criminal Justice and began developing and teaching online courses in Criminal Justice. In 2001, I received my doctorate in Educational Leadership. My area of specialization is Education Law and School Violence. I have developed courses and written curriculum in these areas and have also been very involved in advocating for children's rights in the educational system. For four years I served as the Academic Program Director of both the Criminal Justice Bachelors and Master Programs at a University in South Florida. I stepped down from my position in the spring of 2006 to go back into the distance learning arena. I currently run an online Criminal Justice Program at a large University. I am married, have two children, two stepchildren, and two cats. I paint, sculpt, cook, and spend most of my leisure time in bookstores or in my garden.
