: About Me

Hi, my name is Denise Renee Sloan,

And I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. I have Cerebral Palsy, which I wasn't born with it. I got sick with a stroke and that's how I got Cerebral Palsy. But, with my disability I am able to enjoy my life which is a good one. I am forty-nine year old and I work for a college in food that I enjoy a lot. I also do some writing on the side, when I am not so busy. I went to college for a year for cooking, but I didn't finish because I got sick, but I went back and finish the next year. I work for a college in foods. and I love being around the students. I have worked for the college for about ten years.

I enjoy sport a lot, like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Panthers, and a lot of the home teams. As, child I wanted to be sport's writer and I still do, because I read the sport's page first, then the front page.

I have a lot hobbies, when I find the time to do them. I enjoy doing word puzzles, collecting music, movies. And I love to bake cookies. My family likes for me to do all the baking for the holidays. I have one sister and one brother, that watch over me. I am very close to my mother, because she has been there with me sense I was very sick, as a little girl. With my Cerebral Palsy, just on my left side, I had twenty-five operations. I don't let anything stop me from getting what I want. My mother never treated me like I had a handicapp. I also enjoy listening to music, I have collection of three-hundred and fifty-nine CDs on hand.

My favorite artists is Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey. I enjoy music a lot and like going to concerts. And as a teenager I use to write on the school newspaper. Our newspaper printed their our cookbook called Sunrise Cookbook, which all the students and parent put their our recipes in the book and I put them together.

Reflections: My life as a writer Looking back on when I knew I was a writer, is when I was sick with my Cerebral Palsy. I spent most of my time indoors with cast on my leg or arm all summer long. So, I started reading books and I had a lot of favorite authors and I love reading romance books. So one day I just got finish reading romance book, and I was think out loud I could write a romance story better then this one.
