David Letterman made a joke about Alex Rodriguez of the Yankees knocking up Palin's daughter when the Governor and her daughter attended a recent Yankee game. While Letterman was referring to Palin's oldest daughter, who did get knocked up during the presidential campaign, the oldest daughter did not attend the Yankee game, Palin's 14 year old daughter did. In an obvious attempt to boost his sagging TV ratings, Letterman, a liberal Democrat, unleashed his shocking joke, clearly knowing he would stir up a hornet's nest of right wing fury in the national media.
