I am a travel writer based in Adelaide, South Australia.
My favorite parts of the world to travel and write about are Latin America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Details can be found at "mylinks" on RHS.
My passion is ...
to enjoy life to its fullest while I am able.
I know too much about ...
nothing. It is very important to keep going to courses and learn new things.
My parents always told me ...
to work hard at school. It has paid off at least in satisfaction of achievements.
My childhood ambition ...
was to be a geologist. This I achieved but I have since broadened my activities. Now I concentrate on doing a bit of reading, writing and arithmetic!
My favorite memory ...
is catching a limit bag of ten rainbow trout on the Tongariro River at Taupo, New Zealand, which is akin to winning a major prize in Lotto.
Why I write ...
I write now for the fun of it and providing information for other travellers. Really it is my charity work , a bit like working for "Meals on Wheels".. It pleases me to get favorable feedback.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
Reading?....I find Scottish novelist Alexander McCall Smith both amuses and amazes me. Mostly I read detective novels. Problem is my demand exceeds the supply. Great joy it is to find a new (for me) writer. At the moment I am enjoying the novels of Ann Granger ("A Rare Interest in Corpses") and Peter Robinson ("All Colours of Darkness"). Also I enjoy Jeffrey Ashford and the "Melissa Craig Mystery" stories by English writer Betty Rowlands. For humor I like a P.G. Wodehouse.
My first job ...
after graduating from Uni my first real job was to work as a research chemist for the Linde Company, Union Carbide Corporation, in Buffalo NY working on a project to develop a process to grow synthetic emeralds.
My best moment ...
That's a hard one.... still thinking.
My inspiration ...
I try and be inspired every day by reading books and newspapers, listening to the radio and watching TV. Always there is something worthy of further study.

Maybe $25 would do the trick to buy a few feathers and gear needed to create two fabulous flies that will catch trout and salmon anywhere in the world. What are the odds and ends that you need? At the local dime store you can buy a little hobby vice that screws onto the edge of a table, and also a tube of all-purpose adhesive. Next check your wife’s/partner’s sewing box and ask for the loan of a reel of black thread and donation of various lengths of orange and red wool. A s...
