I get excited by lots of things and my enthusiasm can be contagious. I like to challenge the status quo because I think understanding the "whys" make us better thinkers, better writers, better people. I am curious about everything and find that there are not enough hours in the day to learn about what makes people tick, why people are the way that they are, and how they got to where they are today.
I heard a joke once about a little boy that asked his dad's boss who was visiting if what his dad said was true?
The boss asked, "Well, it depends. What did your dad say?"
The little boy relied, "He said that you were a self-made man."
Then, when the man agreed, the little boy asked, "So why did you make yourself like that?"
This joke has made me think ever since about the pressure that society places on us to be like one thing or another. It also made me realize that every decision we make, conscious or unconscious, is a compilation of who we are and that no one can force you to be someone you don't want to be.
Since hearing that punchline, I now understand that wit, sarcasm, humor, and words are not who we are but how we express ourselves to others. They are our best foot forward. The face we let others judge us by. Our first impression with life. There are no do-overs. Genuineness, candor, thoughtfulness, and compassion are how I want to be remembered and if every now and then I can make someone smile in the process, well, even better.
My passion is ...
Sharing what I have learned so that I can make life easier for others. There is no reason for all of us to reinvent the wheel.
I know too much about ...
Random trivia.
My parents always told me ...
You can do anything that you put your mind to if work hard enough and want it badly enough.
My childhood ambition ...
Was to become an astronaut because I couldn't find enough words to define the stars, planets, and universe as well as I could imagine it looked in reality.
My favorite memory ...
Is the moment someone made me realize that without making an analogy to an object, that I don't know how to define color to someone who may not know what it is. It has completely turned my world around, forced me to think about things and helps me to realize that just because I know something or think something, that it isn't something that is obvious to everyone else.
Why I write ...
I love sharing new ideas or old ideas with new people. When I learn something new, I want to turn to the nearest person and share it despite the weird looks I might get.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
Anything that makes me think, broadens my horizens or helps my imagination think outside the bubble.
My first job ...
Was a lesson in humility that will forever help me to respect people who work in food service.
My best moment ...
Was standing in a hot air balloon after proposing and realizing that she said yes.
My inspiration ...
Is knowing that everyone has a story, a history and a background. I can guess but I am always curious as to what drives people to make the choices that they do to become who they are.

If you are looking to grow Lobelia (also referred to as Lobelia erinus), have no fear. For several years in a row I have had beautiful window boxes full of Lobelia. This was one of the first plants that I tried growing with my green thumb and because of the success, I felt confident enough to branch into more difficult varieties of flowers and eventually plants and shrubs, taking up orchids and other sub-tropicals that can be grown indoors. Lobelias started my love of gardening and whenever I feel like falling back on something I know to be a sure thing, I get some seeds and start planting...
