BIG NEWS! As of March 4, 2008, I have temporary custody of my baby cousin Christopher. Mom and Dad are both heavily involved in the drug culture. We expect to have him for a very long time.
I make my paycheck by telling cops where to go, but in my heart and soul I'm a writer. I knew how to read by the age of 3 and started trying to write shortly thereafter.
My husband is a deputy sheriff, and I used to be one; now I dispatch and I like it that way. I've been with the department for 11 years and someday I'm going to put our combined experiences in a book. We've got too many stories between us that beg to be shared.
We live in Florida but were raised in upstate New York. We have one dog (Hunter, 9) and two cats (Smudge, 15, and baby Jaguar, 2). We've been together nearly 15 years.
He escapes from the job with leatherwork; I escape to the computer and treadmill.
I've lost 27.5 pounds since October 1, 2007 with the help of the wonderful community at http://www.sparkpeople.com. I also maintain a personal blog at http://solitaryshell.typepad.com, in which I focus on pain and solitude and whatever else is going through my head at the time.

Marriage is a lonely business. I learned that important truth early on. When we got together, I knew he was leaving for Navy boot camp in 2 months. In my head, I knew that meant separation, but I figured I could handle it because I was no stranger to long-distance relationships. Separation turned out to be the easy part.
