I grew up in Andalusia, AL. USA, and spent most of my time playing outdoors in the woods and getting into trouble for doing what I was not supposed to do. After school I joined the US Navy and traveled the world for 12 years. It was during high school that I discovered I had a talent for writing but I really did not develop a sincere interest until a few years later, while I was in the Navy. I spent much time alone when I was at sea for extended periods of time and I turned to writing to fill my time.
It was also the Navy that helped me discover a few more things about myself. First, I loved to travel and experience different cultures around the world. Secondly, I began to realize that I was an adventure seeker and the continuous change and adventures that the Navy provided has shaped my character until today. Too the dismay of my family, I am always up for another adventure and rarely say no when the opportunity presents itself. Third, I fell in love with the ocean and going to sea. While I was in the Navy I got involved in sailing and that became the drug of choice for me when my Navy days were finished.
While I was in the Navy, I married and I now have two wonderful, grown children from that marriage. I was later divorced, and at the age of 45, I met my current wife and the love of my life, but along with that came another adventure in itself because she was a Russian citizen living in Russia. To make a long story short, we married in Russia and I lived there with her for one year before returning to the U.S.A. in preparation for settling down. She is a wonderful woman and for the first time in my life I know what it means to be in love.
I write poetry, short stories, novelettes, and I have written for one regional interest travel magazine. I also had the honor of having one of my articles published in a regional sports magazine in Irkutsk, Russia. It was published in Russian and to this day, I cannot read it but I have a copy.
I have written many other things and have aspirations of doing some publishing work in the near future. I am interested in a literary magazine, a coastal living type magazine or something about the water, but I must get some things in order first, and finally listen to my parents advice from 30 years ago and settle down. Figure the odds of this happening though!

DAISIES IN A FIELD I walk along the green, a meadow neath the hill, and smell a scent so sweet, from daisies in the field. I see the never ending glow that leaves of yellow yield, and burn the sight into my mind, of beauty no one can steal. A channel in their midst abodes, woven by hands of skill. Dancing, splashing, blue it flows, till over the rocks it spills, bringing with it the food of life, this meadow's only meal. How perfectly do things abide and together contently build. Mother nature in tune and harmony can surely be unveiled, as part of God's own perfect plan, through daisies in...
