Hi!

I am a medical student at the University of Adelaide in South Australia. My interests include writing (as you may have deduced), tennis, chess and piano.

I am a professional writer whose work can be found in 'Issues of Our Time', a non-fiction book published in Australia, and I am also the proud (or perhaps not-so-proud!) writer of several as yet unpolished fiction manuscripts.

I enjoy reading and writing both fiction and non-fiction, and enjoy a variety of genres and styles. My favourite authors include Robin Hobb, Raymond E. Feist, Alan Dean Foster, Vince Flynn and Jack London.

After spending some time here at Helium, it's inevitable that one question comes up: namely, 'Why do people enjoy reading and writing?'

The answer, while superficially simple is perhaps a little more complicated than it initially appears. Personally, I read to gain a greater appreciation of the world around me, to understand what and why we- as humans- act the way we do.

Although I am studying medicine, I believe that being human is more than having two arms, two legs and stuff in between. Being truly human is having the courage and determination to actively strive for what we believe in.

It is about having the soul to reach out to your goals.

I'm not trying to act or sound like a profound person (I'm not!); but being able to create a new world, dimension or universe through writing- is in my opinion- not only fascinating, but also deeply inspirational.
