I became passionate about writing several summers ago when I got an idea for a Christian children's novel. I wrote from 10:00 pm and until the wee hours of the morning while my family slept. I have finally finished it and am studying ways to market my first book. I have since finished a second book and am in the process of publishing it. I enjoyed writing so much that I decided to look for a writing class on-line. I found a marvelous class with an amazing teacher. I love writing now, although until that first summer, I wasn't always seriously thinking about writing.
I received a degree in Music Education and taught Band at the Jr. high and high school levels for a few years. Then I switched to the elementary level where I have been for the last twenty-four years. Teaching in an elementary school was the perfect setting for raising my own three children and also for writing. I enjoyed creating mini-plays and skits for parent-teacher organization meetings and other school assemblies, and for my classes. Of course my students, the hams, loved performing them. My focus was not on the writing at that time, but on the education of my students.
I have created many stories to enhance lessons over the years, just as many teachers have, but I rarely wrote them down. I did not foresee my love affair with writing. Now, that my love for writing is in the forefront of my life, I write stories down as they pop into my head. Sometimes I'll just jot down a few notes to help me remember to write them down later during my writing time.
This is the beginning of a wonderful and exhilarating time in my life as an author!
My passion is ...
God, writing, singing, teaching
I know too much about ...
diets (I've lost hundreds of pounds over the years)
My parents always told me ...
Do your best and be your best because you never know who is watching.
My childhood ambition ...
To sing the lead in a musical in front of thousands of people. I'm currently singing with a church ministry that is aired all over the world, not lead, just with the group. Does that count?
My favorite memory ...
sitting on the grass in our front yard with all of my sisters and neighborhood friends eating oranges straight from our orange trees when we were in elementary school.
Why I write ...
I love it!
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
My Bible, The Book of Revelation, Heaven by Randy Alcorn, I am America (And so Can You) by Stephen Colbert, and the Lineage of Grace series by Francine Rivers
My first job ...
wrapping Christmas gifts at my mother's retail clothing shop...she didn't own it, she just managed it.
My best moment ...
When God called me to come back to Him after I'd been away from Him for a few years.
My inspiration ...
God, my family and the people I meet everyday.
EYES Eyes that see past my failures Eyes that tell me, "go on" Encouraging me to keep going Down a path where I just can't go wrong What will I do if you ever leave me How will I live without your love What will I choose to keep going Just hold me in your gaze forever Eyes that are not just looking Eyes that see who I really am I'm so lucky to have you love me I'm so lucky to have you near Beautiful eyes Deep thoughtful eyes Eyes that see me Through the cover of lies Beautiful eyes Deep thoughtful eyes Eyes that see me With hope and delight
