I have written 5 children's books. "Yawn's Big Adventure", "A Mission For Leddle Burro", "Arni-God's Chosen One", to name a few.
I have a talent for writing rhymes and have a small book of them which I titled "Rhymes With A Reason" because they are on the God centered side, but oh so fun.
I am pleased to be the Recipes Channel Site Steward here on Helium, so send me an email if you have any questions or comments in this area. I'll answer each one!
Here's more about me... I am of course writing a novel which has been in the works for a few years.
I am an avid antiques junkie. I love attending auctions and have done quite well selling my beloved antiques and collectibles... my auction finds! What fun! I am and have been a "Dealer" for around 6 years, and love the hunt for all things old and cherished!
I love to cook, am always trying new recipes. These days I am thoroughly enjoying rewriting old and inventing new, excitng recipes here on Helium. Having been in the foodservice industry for most of my career, I guess this just comes naturally to me! And what's more it's a blast!
I was born and raised in Colorado, transplanted to Nevada, then Kentucky and then off to the cold state of Maine. Through all this moving I learned how much Colorado meant to me and dragged my new husband back here to make a home in 2006. I am now back in my dear home state.
I am a child of the 50's, 60's and even the 70's. How can a person be a child all that time? I don't know, I suppose you just never grow up. Thats me I guess, still a kid who just never grew up. I have grown old, and grown out, but never really grown up. I like it that way.
In the 50's things were nicer. No they really were, I remember.
The 60's scared me, I just knew I was going to get captured by those hippies and turned into a drug addict!
The 70's? Well by then I had 3 children of my own 2 bright boys and a pretty, pretty girl and life became quite busy, those years passed quickly. The rest is history, too much to enter here!
Now a Grandmother of 7 sweeties, who are the apples of my eye, if I'd known Grandchildren would have been this much fun, I'd have had them first!
I found a good man, made him my husband only 7 years ago, oh yeah!
I am still a kid at heart, I'll never grow up I hope, but I think that's what makes me a good author for the children's literature I write. I can still dig it!
My passion is ...
Living life to its fullest every single day, with the Lords help.
I know too much about ...
My kids and their kids! Food too, it knows too much about me
My parents always told me ...
Save money. Clean your plate. What will people think?
My childhood ambition ...
I wanted to be a Mother, what was I thinking?
My favorite memory ...
My mother wore Evening In Paris perfume, I knew if I smelled it in the air, we were going somewhere, and Tangee lipstick, those two smells meant we were going out!
Why I write ...
I write because Im a writer. That may sound like a snobby thing to say but really it is true. Singers sing, fishermen fish, dancers dance and inevitably writers write. It's something I need and love to do. Almost every day I see things that I would like to write about so I jot this down and then retrieve it allowing myself to write like a mad-woman.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
I listen to mostly Christian music at this time, watch a lot of tv, but usually the cooking channel, American Idol and Dancing With The Stars. I like real life, I eat real food and consider myself a real person.
My first job ...
I was a waitress, 16 years old, made .90 cents an hour, on payday I was rich!
My best moment ...
I'd love to say it was the birth of my children, but well, I was there and those were not my best moments. My wedding was tho,in love with the man of my dreams. My kids all grown (what?) and I was marrying a sailor, man oh man, my dream come true.
My inspiration ...
Now ... I will put my children here, they inspired me to press on in a bad marriage, to keep trying, to teach, train and aim for a higher mark, with Jesus as my power source and strength, my children are great!
Into our world they have risen; THE FOOD GODS! The deities of the kitchen. These have their own world far above our own. These have the vast universe of: THE FOOD NETWORK.
We timidly enter into epicurean worlds far above our own! How dare we venture where mere mortals fear to trod? We wander alone here in our soul food ignorance. How can we ever feel qualified to view these gods? Read on mighty food explorers, read on. Help cometh!
Here I will attempt to review the Fab-5. The top five Food Network stars (In my opinion) and their respective shows.
The battle of the food univers...
