Here is a writer with professional expertise in the foods industry with cumulative work experience spanning several generations. Because she is a gourmet cook Sheila is continually experimenting with upbeat, current recipes and is investigating all the new food trends.

These days she is thoroughly enjoying rewriting old and inventing new recipes. Having been in the food-service industry for most of her career, this comes naturally to her and when combined with current interests, they do capture Sheila's foodie thoughts quite well! A well versed food writer Sheila has articles in food related magazines, websites, as well as several cookbooks, one of which, entitled “Burnt Off’rings” contains many of her “recipe articles” found within Helium, as well as many new, interesting cooking techniques and recipes.

An entrepreneur with many successful food related businesses augmenting her career. These business ventures include Salazar's Family Restaurant, (A full service, authentic, Mexican cafe) The Do-nut Lady, (a bakery delivery route) Sheila's Cakes ‘n’ Stuff, (Decorated cakes for all occasions) and The Jubilee Sandwich Shop. Later in her career she successfully created delicious meals and designed diet plans as a professional Dietary Director, catering to 160 residents living in assisted living facilities in Maine.  

Sheila is also an expert in the field of antiques and collectibles with many years experience buying, selling and renewing these precious items. One of her passions in life is finding an old neglected, and lonely wooden table, buffet or breakfront and restoring it to life with patient, tender care. She adopts these old wood pieces, cleans them up and gives or finds them comfortable homes. Sheila is an expert on old pottery and china, precious metals and Depression glass. Sheila is a real "Antiques Auction Hound."

I wanted to be a Mother, what was I thinking?

My favorite memory ...

My mother wore Evening In Paris perfume, I knew if I smelled it in the air, we were going somewhere, and Tangee lipstick, those two smells meant we were going out!

Why I write ...

I write because Im a writer. That may sound like a snobby thing to say but really it is true. Singers sing, fishermen fish, dancers dance and inevitably writers write. It's something I need and love to do. Almost every day I see things that I would like to write about so I jot this down and then retrieve it allowing myself to write like a mad-woman.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

I listen to mostly Christian music at this time, watch a lot of tv, but usually the cooking channel, American Idol and Dancing With The Stars. I like real life, I eat real food and consider myself a real person.

My first job ...

I was a waitress, 16 years old, made .90 cents an hour, on payday I was rich!

My best moment ...

I'd love to say it was the birth of my children, but well, I was there and those were not my best moments. My wedding was tho,in love with the man of my dreams. My kids all grown (what?) and I was marrying a sailor, man oh man, my dream come true.

My inspiration ...

Now ... I will put my children here, they inspired me to press on in a bad marriage, to keep trying, to teach, train and aim for a higher mark, with Jesus as my power source and strength, my children are great!
