I try to be a simple, middle of the road, type of guy. I don't like blatant commercialism, like when car ads insist you "buy now because we say so". I'm not big into politics when it comes to voting honestly because, to me, there are never any people to vote for. I'm waiting for the common man to get elected. I tend to say what I mean, and my close friends tell me I have a cynical side.
I love nature, and try to live near by it if and when I can. I've lived in mid-sized and larger cities, and for the last three years have lived in a small shoebox size old trailer because it was a way to be out away from the cities. The nearest town is a small village of about 600 people a mile and a half away; and I walk into town once a day to either the diner or the local library.
I have two cats and a dog, and they're all strays kind of like myself. All of us, in a different way, came into each others lives to improve it I believe. The dog, a Beagle mix, was abused and left behind; so he came to stay with me until I found a new home for him. He's still here a year later. The one cat, she just didn't like where she lived and followed the dog and I home one day; she's been here for about a month now. The other cat was left behind I think by some people in a neighborhood where I had an apartment; that was over three years ago. Until that time, I hadn't had a pet in many years.
I love regional and local history. I used to sell Depression Era glass and dinnerware at different places. I still like to poke around an antique store now and then; especially the ones that are up the dirt road off the main highway somewhere. I also like little town diners. Sometimes the little towns are alot of fun too. I travel when I can just to see what the little dots on the maps really look like because I've never been there.
I've been "poking around" at writing for years. I've done a few poems, and tried a short story or two. I have a website which I really need to update. Lately I've started doing blog articles on Americatalksback.com just because it sounded interesting. I do bad humor commentary on MySpace, usually about some odd product I've come across or heard about where the PR or ad just makes no sense to me.
I do some reading now and then during the week. I've got a collection of books that date from the late 1890's up to the DeVinci Code. I read Stephen King, Tom Clancy, Peter Jenkins, Barbara Kingsolver, Michelle Connely, Mich Albom and a few others. I like just about anything having to do with the American Civil War or Imperial Russia and the Russian Revolution. I also like odd historical facts.

my inspiration is just not to be like the narrow-minded slobs that don't care to know better
The year 2008, while being already proven to become a mark in American history, may go down as the year when so many different scenarios would make history. It almost seems inevitable that 2008, and its' Presidential elections will make history. This has become the year that nobody thought would ever be seen. While so many things about the 2008 election are things that we thought would one day come, or knew would come about at some future date; I'm pretty sure that no one saw this year being so full of possible "firsts" or possible historical facts being played out.
