About me - Becky Fishbein

About me

I grew up in a family of 5 kids (bless my parents' hearts): a coupla brothers, a coupla sisters, a few dogs and cats, and a bird or two in the mix. We got along about as well as 5 energetic kids and only one bathroom could. My brothers used to trick me and say "if your hand is as big as your face you have cancer" and I believed them. But I just took it out on my younger sister. And she took it out on the youngest sister, who never took anything out on anyone but just walked around saying "I love you" all the time to everyone. Weird.

I enjoyed college. It took me 10 years to complete a 4-year degree. I just couldn't stop taking all the fun classes, and I also couldn't stop traveling. I lived in Madrid, Spain for a few months for a study abroad program. Had a blast. I also worked up in Alaska for 6 months as a tour guide. I drove one of those big buses full of retired folks and told lame jokes and sometimes they laughed and sometimes they didn't. But the sights were beautiful and the money wasn't bad. I have also visited France, England and Ecuador - one of my husband's favorite places to visit, but not mine. Though I like their bread...and their bananas.

I FINALLY graduated in 2006 in Humanities and was able to have a beautiful baby girl about a year later. She's the craziest, cutest kid on the planet, and she's not even walking yet.

What else? I really enjoy politics and guessing where the world is going. As if I actually know. I tend toward capitalist thinking - my favorite novel is Atlas Shrugged. But I still like to help the homeless once in awhile. I mean, who knows what they've been through? Something bad enough to put them on the streets, is all I have to say.

I am active in my church and currently work with the youth - my favorite group of people on the face of the earth. I have a feeling that when we influence the youth, we change the world, for they will be our leaders someday.

I think the best way to heal a hurting world is to find what you are good at and serve others in your own way. Consequently, my favorite show right now is Oprah's "Big Give." Check it out some time.

But when all is said and done, nothing beats "The Office." I'm glad the writer's strike is over, aren't you?

That's about all the T.V. I can put up with in a week. I really think that big box is a blunder sometimes.
