No family vacation is complete without volunteer work and our Peruvian jungle trip was absolutely no exception. My son and daughter, both in college, and I relished an adventurous week on the Tahuayo River, a tributary of the Amazon River. We become one with the cheetahs, toucans, and monkeys in the wild, embarked on one night of survival camping (OK-we cheated, we made chicken soup and scrambled eggs), and learned not to fear larva, tarantulas, and HUGE poison frogs.
