About me - Robert L. Calixto

About me

I just published my very first literary work called The Cloud Seekers, a children's picture book series. The first book is titled "A Pirate Ship in the Clouds". Here is the website: http://thecloudseekers.com. It's also available through Halo Publishing, Amazon and Barnes and Noble dot com.

Here's my bio as written on facebook:

"I am a cloud seeker. I am a middle child, but more like Greg, and less like Peter. I am bicultural ~ American of Filipino descent. Ever since I can remember, I've gone from one physical tick, like blinking and scratching my nose, to another. I have the Napoleon Syndrome. Chinese food is best, by far. I skydived and ran my first LA Marathon in the same year, 1995. I love meeting new people. I've seen U2 live seventeen times. I've been hit with a baseball in my right eye, twice. Cutting my nails is an obsession. I was once a real estate broker, now I'm just in a real broke state, so why not write? I once purchased a bottle of Ginkgo Biloba to help my memory, but I kept forgetting where I put it. I agree with my father when he says: "you haven't experienced the true America until you've experienced New York." I love all sports played with a ball. The very first movie I ever saw where I cried my eyes out was The Color Purple. I know that "time heals all wounds", but I also know that "time wounds all heals". I love grapes! I believe that a peace-based, checked- and-balanced, American democracy-type “one-world government” will one day create world peace; all countries will be downgraded to states, and the planet will be called “The United States of Earth”. Go USE! My favorite color is blue. I think Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. I want to be famous, but only for positive reasons. I’ve seen Queen, The Clash, The Who, and The Go-Go’s in concert. I sing the body electric, and I celebrate the me yet to come. My favorite athlete of all time is Bo Jackson. I can't wait for my next chord progression. By writing my “about me” this way, I believe I’ve just entered the “witty-writer” realm of possibilities. I’m starting with the man in the mirror, but I can’t promise he’ll change his ways. My dad has the most beautiful handwriting, and my mom writes like a first grader. Guess whom I get my handwriting from? I love and hate playing golf at the same time. My favorite English word is "eclectic". According to the Chinese, with my birthday on 08-08-66, I should be the luckiest guy on earth. I once shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die. Oh wait, that's Johnny Cash. Eight is my favorite number, for obvious reasons. I've never been to Tahiti, but yeah mon, I've been to Jamaica. My favorite ice-cream flavors are Thrifty's Pistacio Nut and Chocolate Malted Crunch. I once played bingo with Mother Teresa. I want "Kite" by U2 to be played at my funeral. My highest bowling score is 228. I have never broken a bone in my body (knock on wood). Imaginatively and artistically, I believe I am in the best shape of my life!"

TELL IT LIKE IT IS... I live in semi-suburbia San Gabriel, about ten miles east of downtown Los Angeles. I used to listen to a guy on the radio, named Michael Benner. He always spoke about personal development and basically about making your life easier to live. I'm not quite sure if he's still on, but I remember one particular morning as I was driving alone in my car. He was talking about why presidents age so much during their four-year term. He said that the main reason is that the job involves so much lying, that the stress level reaches the highest point on a daily basis. He mentioned...
