: About Me

I taught music for 8 years and have been home with my son for the last 3 years. I enjoy cooking, doing crafts, playing with my kids, writing humorous accounts about my family's antics, and of course, music.

In my quest to find a way to earn money while staying home, I stumbled across the Helium site. I enjoy writing anyway, so I figured I'd give it a try. I owe my interest in creative writing to my 9th grade homeroom teacher. I was goofing around, (probably making fun of someone or something the teacher said or did). My reward for being a class clown was a writing assignment. i don't remember exactly what it was that I wrote, but I do remember that upon reading my paper about why I shouldn't talk in homeroom, the poor man almost fell down laughing. He asked me if he could keep the essay. I was quite proud that he wanted to keep it, and elated that I made that man laugh, so of course I let him keep it.

As a high school student, I never liked to write. Writing was boring, a lot of work, and something that just wasn't interesting to me. Writing was a task that could result in something horrifying, like an oral report. I've always been scared to death of getting up and reading something I wrote to the class for fear that my peers may think my ideas were stupid. On the other hand, if the assignment was to make someone laugh, fear not. That would be easy, and I didn't lack for self-confidence in the humor department.
