About me - Fatimah bint Charles

About me

I'm a mother of eight children. I introduce myself this way because I am not me by myself. They are a definition of who I am and what we can all become. We are a community, I love my husband dearly because only one of the eight is his and he married me not knowing what challenges he would face. I love the way that I feel for him and I appreciate the love and concern that he shows me and our children.

I enrolled in Community College as a journalism major because I felt that it would lead to a lucrative career in the field. I don't know what I was thinking because I never wanted to stay away from my family for long periods of time. I created a community newsletter instead and conducted interviews locally. I began teaching and from then until now I've written a little poetry and a couple of short stories. I do more journaling than any other type of writing. With a family such as mine, I find a lot to write about but very little time to write anything extensive. I want to take the opportunity now to extend my writing.

She quickly hung up from talking with her sister and passed me the phone. I was puzzled because she didn't tell me a name or indicate that it was someone that I knew or even wanted to talk to.
