About me - James Vigg

About me

My name is Jim. I'm intelligent, or so I'm told, which by and large means I'm unhappy because I feel that there should be something... more out there.  That there's something on which I'm missing out.  This is terribly stressing.  I've liked to write for as long as I can remember; and as long as I can remember, my stories have always been very dour.

Example: The first story I can ever remember writing was in kindergarten, and it was called "The Boy And The Shark." It went like this, with illustrations.

There was a boy swimming.  He saw a shark.  The shark ate the boy.  The end.

I suppose that should have been some kind of indicator as to my future.  Oh, I have things well enough; job, car, friends, etc.  But none of it means anything.  I've tried to write nonfiction, sports articles mostly; they say "write about what you know."  But I suppose my area of 'expertise' is nonfiction, fantasy, horror fiction, that sort of thing.

As far as writing accomplishments go, I have none.  Yes, that's boring and unprofessional, I know.  I'm sure I'll accomplish something someday.

Hobbies, let's see... I play a variety of musical instruments (mostly other people's) and I'm an avid player of Magic: The Gathering.  I also play video games, Rock Band being my current passion (apparently I'm good at simulating drums.) I like to cook, and of course, read and write.

Everyone loves a comeback story. From the 1972 Dallas Cowboys playoff win over the San Francisco 49ers (a 17-point comeback in the fourth quarter that cemented the legend of Roger Staubach) to the 2004 Boston Red Sox claiming victory from the jaws of defeat over the New York Yankees (down three games to none in the ALCS, they took the next four games, then swept the World Series) to the Indianapolis Colts coming back from a 21-3 deficit to win the AFC Championship 38-34 and subsequently win the Super Bowl, everyone remembers the Comeback Kid. It's a story that makes us stand up and cheer, ...
