History:
I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, then moved to Columbus, Ohio and finally Seattle, Washington before coming back to Louisville for college. I also spent time in Montpellier, France doing a work exchange program and teaching English in China.
Education:
I attended the University of Louisville for both undergraduate and graduate studies. I received BA degrees in French and History in 2003, an MA in French in 2005, and an MA in Teaching - Secondary Education in 2008 with teaching certificates in Chemistry, Biology, French, Social Studies, and English as a Second Language (ESL). I am currently pursuing a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction.
Work:
I started off working for my dad at his injection molding business. When I moved to Louisville for college I spent seven years working for my aunt's printing company in the office, mainly doing customer service, proofreading, and copy writing. I also spent a year as a Product Development Lab Technician at an aluminum paint pigment facility and worked as a bartender for extra money to attend graduate school. I taught Chemistry and Integrated Science at a high school in Frankfort, KY for one year and I've been teaching high school Chemistry and Anatomy in Louisville for the past four years. I also tutor in my spare time.
Hobbies:
I enjoy traveling, reading, writing, ultimate frisbee and bowling. I try to travel at least 4 times a year, and the schedule I have as a teacher affords me that opportunity. I also participate in ultimate frisbee leagues and bowling leagues in Louisville. I don't get to read as much as I would like, except for on breaks from school. I have always enjoyed writing and wrote for the university newspaper for several years while an undergraduate.

The benefits that are associated with a career are more than just those magical benefits packages that are often tacked on as way to improve curb appeal of a job. They are more than the vacation time and the insurance and the other perks that may come with the job. That is not to say that these types of benefits are not great, because they are. And when one is talking about the field of teaching, those benefits are usually very nice. Of course, it varies widely from state to state what the benefits are, and usually starting salaries are enough to make you want to pull your hair out and cry...
