About me - John Tyler

About me

My name is John Tyler, I am a 21 year old undergraduate student at Ohio University. I am a student of political science but am more interested in philosophy and legal theory. I have worked in the State House of Representatives, the State Attorney General's Office and am preparing to travel abroad to work for the National Assembly of Wales for three months. Despite my political involvements I am by no means sure I understand politics. I'm a student and an observer. I hope that this never changes, as those better spoken then myself have said in the past (and in a much more elegant nature): I would be skeptical of any man who says that they have it all figured out.

My goals when I came to Helium were to become a better writer by writing more often, at the time I was an aspiring journalism student and was referred here by a colleague. I have done a very poor job of working towards these two goals but hope to begin pursuing them once again. I hope that I can use Helium as an outlet to share interesting thoughts and perspectives that some might not have considered in the past and likewise I hope that I will be exposed to new and interesting perspectives as well.
