I have been writing seriously, although not professionally, since I was a junior in high school. While my topics have proven to be many, I tend to lean my writing toward my passion: the outdoors.
Of my 23 years, I tell many whom I meet that I have spent at least 15 basically "living" outside. Over those years, I have come to realize that nature not only teaches us things about itself as a being, but it also teaches us just as much, if not more, about ourselves.
Having a disability that should have prevented me from doing many of the things that I enjoy doing while outside, I do tend to stay in one place when I go outside, and it is through that solitary time that I discover nature at its best. It allows me to take a step back from the world, and simply just sit and watch. If something happens, that gives me something to write about. If nothing happens, that gives me even more to write about. What I look for in nature is nothing. I let nature look for me instead.
