I am a professional journalist who believes in making her own destiny. In the past I waited for my dream job to fall in my lap, today I know better. I have learned that hard work and dedication can get you anywhere, and it is never too late to follow your dreams.
Since first writing for Helium I have become the professional journalist I always dreamt of being. Watching my articles climb to the top of the ranks, or leapfrogging them so they did, gave me the confidence I needed to make a living from writing. I can't imagine ever doing anything else with my life other than writing.
I wake up in the morning happy to work and thrilled with my job, how many people get to say that? I am blessed to be a writer and thank Helium for helping me get there. I currently write for The Martinsville Reporter Times, The Mooresville Decatur Times, Indy's Child and Adoptive Families Magazine.
I graduated in 2003 from Indiana University with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and a concentration in Psychology. I am a proud mother of a beautiful girl and two handsome little boys.
I draw most of my articles from personal experience with adoption and parenting. I see everything in my life as a learning opportunity and welcome the struggles to give me wisdom and something to write about.
I am working from home currently, diligently trying to advance my writing career. I love writing and everything about it. I believe in doing something everyday to further my dream of being a writer. I promise myself that no matter what happens I will write, rate, or do one thing each day to further my writing career.
Little by little my baby steps each day have taken me to places I never dreamt I would go. What do you do each day to make your dreams a reality? Dreams do come true, want proof? You reading this bio is making my dream come true!

I've had an epiphany. After years of wondering why my life was not what I dreamed, I've faced the truth. The only thing standing in the way of my dreams is, sadly, me. The Realization Several times a week I take my son on the trail close to our house. It is a fifteen minute walk to get ice cream and fifteen back. Although I need the exercise and know that my son enjoys it, the truth is those precious minutes are the only time I get during the week to really think without interruptions. Lately there has been one thing on my mind: what am I doing with my life? Why am I not truly happy? Why W...
