Hello! My name is James Pate. My interests are religion, politics, and entertainment. I have a B.A. from DePauw University, an M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School, and an M.A. from Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Right now, I am in a doctoral program at Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, studying the History of Biblical Interpretation. I joined Helium to become a better writer, and hopefully to make some money. So I'm looking forward to reading and writing on this site. In II Samuel 24, David takes a census of the people of Israel, leading God to punish him by sending a pestilence upon the nation. Here are a couple of points: 1.
