William Glass was born in a small town in central N.C. and grew up farming, pickin' a five string banjo and smoking cigarettes. After all, it's "communist" to be from North Carolina and not use tobacco. After returning home from a 5-year hitch with the U.S.Navy he took up a wide variety of jobs from managing convenient stores to driving big-rigs,roofing and working cattle in Texas. He claims to have an "antique attitude". His own mother exclaims " He's an old man in a young man's body." Mr. Glass has written opinions and columns for various newspapers and other local venues where he abides now in Texas. "I like the country.." he says . "I like dogs and possums and children and I hate barcodes,politcians and and a damn computer."

I'm broke. Flat,busted,broke. I can't afford the time of day at the Dollar Store kind of broke.So broke that I don't have the funds to afford the luxury of becoming a suicide victim.I can't afford a shotgun shell or a rope. The problem is that it's not just me.I'm broke so my wife is broke.In turn,my dogs are broke.My cat is broke but cats don't seem to care about much of anything,anyway.My brother in law lives in a camper trailer situated in my backyard.He's broke.Hell, he's always broke.I work with my father in law.We are roofers.He's broke.All of us are broke because the housing market ...
