Sometimes it seems like I've been everywhere and done everything, but alas that's not possible. I've had two careers in my 63 years on this earth. I served in the U.S. Air Force as an enlisted person for twenty years. I was stationed in Thailand, South Korea, England and a fair number of States in this great country of ours. During my career in the service, I was able to get a couple of college degrees. After the service, I worked for General Motors for twenty one years in management and human resources and have been retired from them for a year and a half. I've had a number of part time jobs in my life and have experienced many different things. I'm a student of humankind. In simpler words I'm a people watcher. My wife often thinks this is a fault, but I love to observe people and often marvel at the things I see. I'm also an optimist. I look for the good in people and try to understand why they do what they do.
I am happily married to my soul mate. This is my second marriage and Rhodora is the best thing that ever came into my life. She completes me. We have two of the best kids in the world. They are hers from her first marriage, but they are mine now too. Our daughter is 20 and attends college to be a teacher. Our son just turned 18 and will graduate high school this Spring. He will be starting college next year. We are a great family. We love to play games together, go camping, attend sporting events and just hang out, but each has their own interests and 'space' as needed.
Rhodora introduced me to this site and though among the many other interests I have, I will try to write interesting and entertaining pieces for your enjoyment. I tend to incorporate life experiences in my writing so feel free to contact me if something piques your interest. Thanks to all of you who read my work and provide feedback.

THE OLD MAN No, I don't think of him as often as I used to. But I'll never forget him as long as I live. I was a fresh faced 17 year old kid when I first met him. I worked as a part time clerk in the dairy department at our local A & P grocery store in Williamsburg Virginia. I was still in high school, hoping to earn enough money to go to college after graduating. My father had died a year earlier and I was living with my step-mother and step-sister. I didn't get along with my step-mother at all. I think she believed my Dad's death was my fault even though I was not home when he died and i...
