My formal training is in the field of psychology and clinical social work.I have an MSW from Simmons College School of Social Work and I am an LICSW. I have worked with court involved adolescents and children and families involved with the Department of Social services. The best job I have held was as a School Adjustment Counselor, where I had the opportunity to work with kids at every grade level doing individual and group counseling and interacting with teachers and parents.
I was laid off from a school position in June,2000 and while I was quite disappointed, I decided to use that as an opportunity to try my hand at freelance writing.I decided to write about what I knew best- parenting and working with children and adolescents. I was fortunate to have my work published in a number of local newspapers and regional parenting magazines. I became particularly interested in the case of a missing Massachusetts teenager and I wrote several articles about this youngster and other missing children as well as articles related to child safety. I also write poetry and an occasional short story, but I have only had one poem published and have lots of rejection letters!
In recent years I have begun facilitating writing workshops for adults and children and have done some private tutoring.
I have three daughters and four grandchildren. I am quite fortunate to have one daughter and her husband and baby living with us and I spend many hours taking care of my infant granddaughter and enjoying full tme grandparenting.

We can remember the early hours of that morning when the sky was deep blue and cloudless and we can recount where we were as we watched the silver metal of two wayward airplanes colliding with the soaring steel of the Twin Towers, as smoke billowed into the sky, eradicating our innocence. Yes, I too remember September 11,2001.Its horror is embedded in my mind and in my being. But I also remember September 9, 2001. It was a beautiful day, a Sunday. Summer had officially ended the previous week with Labor Day a...
