I am a white male American born 1940. I have degrees, including Ph.D. in philosophy, and post doctoral work in several areas. In a 35 year teaching career I taught mainly critical thinking and social philosophy and authored a very comprehensive textbook titled "Critical Thinking Step by Step." I am a progressive, member of the Green Party. In retirement I have won two small hometown elections and have served as minority inspector of elections, as a civil service commissioner and a 4-year term as a borough councilman. In the course of this I researched a great deal of the typical problems of small municipalities (mainly insufficient revenue) and am willing to consult on municipal matters.
There is now a politically feasible New Way Forward to support our troops by getting them out whole-country counterinsurgency civilian protection in Iraq and out of the whole country in two presidential terms. By November 2008 there should be bipartisan agreement that in seeking to promote democracy all over the Middle East by war in both Afghanistan and Iraq, President Bush bit off far more than the American people are willing to chew.
