I stumbled across this site while I was searching for ways to utilize my writing talents. Like many others on Helium, I had a passion for writing as a teen and spent countless hours putting pen to paper simply because I enjoyed the act. Although I was encouraged by my high school teachers to pursue a career in writing, I chose instead to push my ambitions aside and married at the age of 20. 15 years and two children later I was divorced and writing again.
Along with the rekindling of my love for writing, came the love of a man that I would eventually be proud to call my husband. Not only did Butch prove to be my soul mate, but he also became an outstanding stepfather to our son and daughter. It was due to his encouragement and unfailing support that I was able to take my dream of becoming an author one step further and self-publish a book of poetry. In 2001, I was thrilled to see, Poetically Said! "Pathways of the Heart" finally become a reality in paperback form.
Our 20-year-old daughter Rachel is currently attending her 3rd year at Saginaw Valley State University where she studies Elementary Education. Our son Josh is 18 years old and graduates from high school this year. Since my husbands retirement almost 2 years ago I have had more free time to explore the writing world again. Presently, I am working on a children's fantasy book.
My passion is ...
writing and happiness... and sometimes it takes one to have the other.
I know too much about ...
nothing.
My parents always told me ...
don't have children..... raise puppies instead!

Why I write ...
because it just feels natural. The written word comes easier to me than verbal expression.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
the thoughts inside my own head.
My first job ...
sewing women's robes and pajamas at a knitting mill.
My best moment ...
going up in an airplane for the first time. The student pilot (who I had not met prior to that day) that took me up is the man I now call my husband!
My inspiration ...
comes from within. Those that believe God does not exist, have never felt his presence.
Face the Music Grandfather always said to me... "My son, you must not be afraid to brave the truth. And you must not seclude yourself behind the harbor of your youth. Sometimes, in life, you need to stand tall and push aside your fears. There comes a time in life, my son, when you need to face the music... So, hold your chin up high and wipe away those tears." He'd firmly say, when I'd done wrong... "My son, I know you want to hide away, concealing your transgressions. I know your fears are great, and it's tough to make confessions. But, there comes a time in life, my son, when you need to...
