Freelance journalist, self-opinionated taxi driver, picture framer, and full time entrepreneur. I came late in life to writing, going back to college in the late 1990's at the age of 46 and obtaining my journalism and media studies degree (distinction) in 2000 at the age of 49. Since then I have had various opinion pieces and articles published in the national press (Ireland) under my own byline.
My main passion in life (as well as writing) is golf, which I have been playing now for 54 years. (Since I was 4!) I love to read, (crime novels and thrillers are my favourite) love movies, and own a huge DVD library
A Scotsman by birth I now live in Dublin in Ireland (for the past 30 years) and am married with an 18-year-old daughter just about to start college.

In "Porno", Welsh re-unites for the first time all of the seedy characters from his first (and only) blockbuster novel "Trainspotting" (1993) and brings them all together again in their old stomping ground of Leith in Edinburgh. I thoroughly enjoyed the novel Trainspotting, (but NOT the movie) and have read all of Welsh's subsequent five novels, none of which reached the dizzying heights of success that he achieved with Trainspotting. We had a brief coming together of some of the Trainspotting characters in Welsh's novel "Glue", which followed the changing fortunes of four of the character...
