I live in the beautiful countryside of Basse-Normandie in France, quite close to Le Mont St Michel.
Before taking early retirement I lectured in Social Sciences in the West of England. My particular subject areas were Social and Moral Philosophy, Sociology and Social Psychology.
I was also an Open University tutor in Social Sciences for many years, a job I thoroughly enjoyed, largely because the students were so motivated.
In between teaching commitments, having worked with the written word for so long, I decided to qualify as a copy editor and proofreader. This enabled me to follow a part-time interest as a self-employed copywriter and copy editor. I still do this on an occasional basis.
However, these days my interests are more of the rural and domestic variety. They include keeping chickens, vegetable gardening, and knitting. I also enjoy home decorating, cooking, and anything to do with the countryside.
My passion is ...
living in the country
I know too much about ...
social and moral philosophical theories that will never be put into practice in the real world
My parents always told me ...
not to make so much noise
My childhood ambition ...
to be a blues singer
Why I write ...
I just can't break the habit
My inspiration ...
fresh air and sunshine
