My first job ...
McDonald's in Manhattan, The job lasted 1 week, I was still in high school and getting home at three in the morning on the subway did not mix well with school.
My best moment ...
Waking up from abdominal surgery and had no pain. I hate pain and was frightened that I would be in incredible post surgery pain. I did not have to use the morphine that I was hooked up to. The moment was delicious.
My inspiration ...
My inspiration is my mother. She experienced so much in her life, and yet she is capable of saying "no" when she needs to and give when she is able. One Christmas, I went home to find bags of food, lined up along the hallway, spilling into her livingroom, kitchen and even the bedroom. She bought food over the year, as it came on sale and a few days before Christmas, she called a truck to take the abundance of food to distribute amongst the members in her community.
"Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, if I should die, before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take." was the prayer from my childhood which terrorized me. To me, the child, the prayer was setting up my imminent death. I went to bed with the fear that the invisible force would take me away and I would not see my family again. Does prayer work?
